From DHS: "In response to White House Executive Order, "Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Program and Preferencing," effective immediately, all Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Employee Associations (EA), Employees Resource Groups (ERG) and Affinity Group functions, and activities, are put on hold pending further review and determination.


During this time, EA, ERG, or Affinity Group activities are not allowed to use DHS resources or to continue under the DHS recognized name and/or support."

The Chapter received it's approval to charter on November 17, 2001 and was officially chartered August 22, 2002 at the National Delegates Assembly.   For more than 19 years The Coast Guard Chapter of Blacks In Government has supported EQUITY in all aspects  of American life, EXCELLENCE in public service, and OPPORTUNITY for all  Americans.

Blacks In Government® (BIG) was  established in 1975 and incorporated in 1976 by a small group of African  Americans at the Public Health Services which is a part of the  Department of Health, Education and Welfare in the Parklawn building in  Rockville, Maryland.. BIG has been a national response to  the need for African Americans in public service to organize around  issues of mutual concern and use their collective strength to confront  workplace and community issues.
